We were thrilled to be on last week’s Sustainability Segment, which is part of our local community radio station KEXP’s Mind Over Matters show. To be honest, we were a little nervous when we surveyed the list of former guests, which includes Bill McKibben, David Korten, Sarah Van Gelder, and Pulitzer Prize-winning author Siddhartha Mukherjee. Our half-hour interview with host Diane Horn aired last Saturday at 7:00 AM, but it is now available as a podcast.
It was great to be able to go into a little more detail about our house. And, in preparing for the show, we finally added up all the costs and figured out the price per square foot it cost us to build, and we were really happy to find out that our house cost far less than most other Seattle new construction projects. In fact, you might be surprised to hear the final number. Check out the interview, and let us know if you think we made a good case for net-zero-energy building.
